Prince George Set to Host the Opening of the 2024 Para Biathlon WorldChampionships with a Spectacular Ceremony and Fireworks Display

The city of Prince George is on the cusp of welcoming athletes and spectators from around the globe to the eagerly anticipated Opening Ceremonies of the 2024 Para Biathlon World Championships, slated for Tuesday, March 5th at 6:30 PM at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre. This event marks the beginning of an extraordinary 12 days of competition, showcasing 185 athletes from 20 countries, with the competitions commencing on March 6th at 10am at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club, and the Para Nordic World Cup Finals starting on March 12th.

The Opening Ceremonies promise an evening of celebration, unity, and the spirit of sportsmanship, free for the public to attend. The festivities will conclude with a dazzling firework display in the Civic Plaza, setting the tone for the thrilling competitions to follow.

Kevin Pettersen, Chair of the Local Organizing Committee, expressed his enthusiasm: “The excitement is truly mounting as we prepare to kick off the 2024 Para Biathlon World Championships in Prince George. Welcoming 80 athletes from 13 countries to our opening ceremonies, and indeed all 185 athletes participating over the following 12 days, represents a significant moment for our community and the sporting world. This event is a testament to the strength, resilience, and dedication of all involved.”

Our teams have worked tirelessly to ensure that the competitions will be a spectacular showcase of Para sports.”
